One Thing Leads to Another<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a multidisciplinary artist, which is really just a fancy way of saying I like making things in different ways. I\u2019ve worked across ceramics, painting, drawing, collage, textiles and mixed media, choosing whatever medium feels right for the idea I\u2019m exploring.<\/p>\n

After taking a break from ceramics, I\u2019ve recently returned to painting and drawing, immersing myself in different mediums and exploring ideas from a different perspective. I\u2019m easily distracted by things that catch my attention – an everyday object, something overheard, a news story, or something I notice on one of my increasingly slow-motion \u201cwalks\u201d on my mobility scooter.<\/p>\n

As getting out and about has become more difficult, the world immediately around me has become an increasingly important source of inspiration too. This may be one reason I\u2019m currently fascinated by the small rituals and comforts of home, especially the quiet presence of sleeping cats and dogs. There\u2019s something rather lovely about finding meaning in the ordinary, particularly when the ordinary is where you spend rather more time than you once did.<\/p>\n

I like my work to have a sense of humour too. Sometimes it\u2019s obvious, sometimes it sneaks in through a title or a small detail. I occasionally explore social and political subjects, but I prefer a gentle nudge to a loud statement.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, I\u2019m interested in making work that gives people something to pause over – perhaps a smile, a second look, or a different way of seeing something familiar. I don\u2019t necessarily want to tell you what to think. I\u2019d much rather leave you with something to discover for yourself.<\/p>\n
